ABOUT US

"Gandhi Team" PARTICIPANTS OF EUROSCOLA CONTEST 2015

Hi! We are a group 1º Bachillerato students in the IES Canarias Cabrera Pinto and some teachers working together. This is a very old High School in one of The Canary Islands, Tenerife. In fact, it is the oldest High School on the islands.

We  care about the world we live in and we would like to contribute in any way we can to  improve it. Currently we are participating in a contest called “Euroscola”. We have chosen the name "Gandhi", because we think Mahatma Gandhi was a great person who has made a significant contribution to the world we live in.

We have read about the “Millennium Goals” and learned that many  things  have been done to improve the lives of millions of people worldwide.

This year new goals will be discussed. By publishing this blog, we would like more people to know about  the Millenium Goals, and maybe we’ll be able to participate in defining new ones. We have decided to Take Action!

Some of our actions  are aimed at our High School and our Community. We are targeting children and teenagers.

We want to fight education inequality. We think this is the best way to improve the lives of future generations.

This year during the Cultural Week, from the 13th to the 17th of April we will make them visible.

In addition, by publishing this blog, we hope students throughout Europe can join us by commenting our posts, giving us a like, or any other way you would like to!

We are certain that if we work together, we can make a change for the better!
First of all, let’s make the Millennium Goals visible for all:

You can read different posts students in our class think are important. We have searched for information on the net, and then written a summary, or our opinions. They are connected with the Millennium Goals, and they are also  linked to the problems we are experiencing in our community.

  9. I hope your definition of "youth" includes people who, like me, are over fifty years old. We are doing all sorts of things, sharing and inviting each other. Other than Gandhi, you might want to look into Buckminster Fuller, the inventor of the geodesic dome. I offer my home page at Appropedia.org/User:LucasG Let's have a party!
